Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 5, 2026 · This policy explains what cookies are, which ones snapshots.cloud uses, and what your choices are.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — like whether you are logged in, or your display preferences — so you don't have to re-enter it every time.
Cookies are not programs and cannot access other files on your device. They are widely used across the web and are an essential part of how most modern services function.
How snapshots.cloud Uses Cookies
We keep our cookie usage minimal and purposeful. Below is a complete list of the cookies and client-side storage mechanisms currently in use on our platform.
Strictly Necessary Authentication & Session
When you log in to snapshots.cloud, your session token is stored in your browser's localStorage — not as a cookie. This token authenticates your requests and keeps you logged in across page loads. It is never shared with third parties and is cleared when you log out.
- sc_token — your authentication token (localStorage)
- sc_user — your username and role (localStorage)
- sc_theme — your light/dark mode preference (localStorage)
These are essential to the operation of the site. The service cannot function without them. No consent is required under GDPR or CCPA for strictly necessary storage.
Payment Processing Stripe
When you subscribe or make a payment, our payment processor Stripe may set cookies on your device for fraud detection and security purposes. These cookies are set by Stripe's domain and are outside our control.
- __stripe_mid — device fingerprinting for fraud prevention (1 year)
- __stripe_sid — session tracking for payment security (30 minutes)
These cookies are strictly necessary for processing your payment securely and are governed by Stripe's own Privacy Policy. They are only active during checkout flows.
No Tracking Cookies
snapshots.cloud does not currently use:
- Analytics or tracking cookies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc.)
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Any third-party behavioral tracking
If this changes, we will update this policy, add a consent mechanism, and notify existing users before any tracking is activated.
Your Choices
Because we use only essential session storage and payment-required cookies, there is currently no opt-out available for our core functionality — these mechanisms are required for the service to work.
You can clear your browser's localStorage and cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will log you out of your account. Each major browser provides instructions:
Future Changes
As snapshots.cloud grows, we may introduce privacy-respecting analytics (such as Plausible or Fathom) or additional third-party services. When we do, this policy will be updated and — where required by law — we will request your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
